Savannah’s Haven
The purpose of Savannah’s Haven is to improve the quality of life for senior residents and animals in shelters, because of the lack of social interaction in independent living facilities and low adoption rates in animal shelters. The goal is to design a space that will create a symbiotic relationship in a new community, which will improve social interaction. The project includes a retirement community with an animal haven and other social activities. By applying universal design residents will be safe, comfortable, and included. The aesthetic used is influenced by an urban plan of Savannah, traditional architecture, and a mid-century palette. The mid-century palette is inspired by resident’s age demographic and animal color theory. Savannah’s Haven gives deserving shelter dogs a second chance at life while giving seniors a chance at health and happiness.
